Short introduction about JEE Main
Joint Entrance Examination is a national level competitive exam to get admission in various engineering colleges in India. It is divided into two levels i.e. JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Only those students who are clearing JEE Main can appear for the JEE Advanced and after qualifying it they can get admission in IITs. And remaining students can apply for NITs and other engineering colleges. Seat allocations will be done based on their ranking in respective examination. Both are multiple choice based exam. From 2019 JEE Main will be conducted twice in a year by National Testing Agency. For more detail click here.
JEE Main has two paper namely paper-1 and paper-2. Candidates can fill their form for either or for both paper.
- Paper-1: It is for getting admission in BE/B.Tech colleges and it is conducted both online and offline mode.
- Paper-2: It is for getting admission in B.Arch and B.Planning courses. It will be conducted online for Mathematics and Aptitude test and offline for Drawing test.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main
Sr no. | Eligibility Criteria | General Category | OBC-NCL/ SC/ST |
1 | Age Limit | No age limit. But candidates should check the age limit of institutions in which he or she will take admission. | Same as general |
2 | Year of appearance in Qualifying Examination(QE) | Candidates who have passed 12th or other QE in 2017, 2018 or appearing for 2019. | Same as general |
3 | Number of subject | Must appear atleast 5 subject in 12th and other QE | Same as general |
4 | Score in Qualifying Examination (QE) | No minimum percentage is needed for appearing JEE Main. Only for taking admission in NITs, IIITs and CFTIs minimum 75% or be in top 20 percentile is needed in class 12th. | Same as general but instead of 75% it is 65% |
5 | Number of Attempts | 3 consecutive year | Same as general |
